Michaël Cailloux began his career in publishing after meeting Thierry Magnier at a private viewing at the Galerie Nathalie Béreau. Fascinated by his poetic world, the publisher saw the narrative potential of his creations and launched a collaboration that resulted in Merveilleuse Nature (2017).
This book celebrates the seasons through meticulous compositions, inviting wonder. This was followed by Merveilleuses Couleurs (2018), where surrealist associations highlight chromatic nuances, and Talismans (2019), written by Thierry Magnier, a unique book-object that offers 14 detachable talismans designed as lucky charms to overcome the small worries of everyday life. In 2022, Luxuriante Nature, Michaël Cailloux's first monograph, was published by Delachaux et Niestlé with texts by art historian Julia Hountou. This book explores in depth Michaël Cailloux's creative process, revealing the successive stages of his rich and complex artistic approach. In October 2024, he illustrated Le ventre de Joseph, an album co-signed with Marie Desplechin. Inspired by medieval illuminations and botanical plates, this work offers an immersion into a rich visual universe, where the precision of the interlacing plants and animals translates a harmony between text and image.
