Michaël Cailloux reinvents etching by cutting his copper plates with a jeweler’s saw, freeing the composition from any traditional frame. Combining drypoint mastery with experimentation, he creates rich, intricate worlds where botanical arabesques and animal figures interact in a bold, immersive scenography. Through the play of “varia,” each print becomes a unique work, enhanced by delicate inking and exceptional papers.

Made in 2016 for its first personal exhibition in ParisEntitled « In the shadow of the Eiffel Tower » , Nathalie Bereau Gallery, this engraving represents a flying insect (bee, bumblebee or hornet) evolving in a nuage, symbol of lightness and movement.

The work illustrates the technical mastery of etching by Michaël Cailloux and his ability to create poetic and immersive compositions. Through this engraving, the artist explores the flight, suspension and the fragile balance between nature and space, in writing that is both delicate and expressive.
